Ruth has always been a defender to those who can't defend themselves. She has a passion for serving the under-served. Since the time of her youth, people have always drawn near to Ruth sharing their story and pain looking towards her for comfort, guidance, and hope.
Ruth often says, "if someone told me years ago, I would be who I am today; I wouldn't believe them."
Growing up like most girls, she didn't have her father's love or protection. Ruth was the young girl who sought after her father's love. She retells a story of when she was a little girl; she would cry and beg her father, asking why he didn't love her. In reply, he would say, "oh, please get away from me." At that moment, Ruth vowed never to get married or have children. The insurmountable pain she felt and the ocean of tears that flooded her face, Ruth never wanted to feel that pain again. It was at that very moment her heart became cold. She promised that she would never let a man love her or hurt her, so instead, she became the abuser—the one who called all the shots. Ruth did the dismissing instead of being dismissed; she became her father.
After years of dead-end relationships, Ruth surrendered to the calling God had on her life. She chose to forgive her father. And one day, she decided to tell him, I love you, not caring whether he said it back or not. In a soft tone feeling like young Ruth again, she said, "Papi I love you, he looked up at her and said, "I love you too, I love all my children."
Ruth realized if she didn't surrender to God's calling, she would have never fully embraced her beautiful husband of 8 years and their four beautiful children. Because of the work God did on Ruth's heart, her husband was able to tear down the thick wall she had built over the years.
If there's one thing she's learned about life, it is hurt people, hurts people.
A statement from the founder:
"I want my daughters to know that they are more than enough, I want them to love themselves enough to walk away with their heads held high from anyone who does not love them for who they are.
Ruth Restoration Home is not a place to dismiss, but it's a place where you will find love, guidance, and be uplifted. A place where every woman knows she is loved, and her voice is heard."
